DIY CivilizationYou might know how to knit, but can you shear a sheep, card wool, and spin yarn?
You might know how to work with wood, but can you make your own tools and do it without electricity? You might know how to light a fire without matches, but can you smelt iron to make your own steam engine powered match factory? Here we share the whole process, from start to finish, with no skipped steps or missing information. And it’s all set up to Do It Yourself. |
About this Site
Hi. I can’t see you right now, but I’ll bet you are probably reading this on a computer, a phone, or a whatever. The point is that you are using a piece of high technology to access this information. I also bet you have no idea how to build a computer. If you do know how to build a computer, you probably need parts from the store. But could you make those parts?
Someone(s) made your computer from scratch. The metal parts were once ore in the ground, the plastic components were refined from oil, and the hardware was developed from the same kind of deductive functions that used to run Jacquard Looms. How cool would it be to know how to do all of it yourself? Not that you need to DIY your whole life, but this kind of stuff comes in handy.
The goal of this site is to provide useful DIY information which will allow you to personally build or rebuild all of the technologies of civilization from scratch. DIY is everything to this project. It is not enough to know how things are made in some abstract sense. We want to know how it was done so that we can do it too. All of it. But please be patient as it may take thousands of years to finish this project. ;-)
Welcome.
